WHEELER, May 27 (Special) - Mrs. D.E. Holt, wife of the president of the First National Bank of Wheeler, died early Saturday morning in Highland Memorial Hospital, Pampa. Mrs. Holt, 73 years old, had been ill for several weeks.

She had been a resident of Wheeler since Aug. 10, 1908. She accompanied her husband here. Mr. Holt was the first cashier of the bank - then a state bank, which opened for business the day after the Holts arrival here.

She was Katherine Demaris Bowers, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bowers, of Bourlin, Kan. She was born there Dec. 16, 1876.

Mrs. Holt was married to Dennis Elmer Holt Sept. 6, 1899 at Fort Scott, Kan. The Holts lived in Kansas until they moved to Wheeler.

Their first home here was at the old E.E. Holt place, one of the well-known landmarks of early Wheeler. E.E. Holt, a cousin of Mr. Holt's, was first president of the bank.

Mrs. Holt has been an active member of the Methodist church here for more than 30 years. She also was a member of the Wheeler Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon in the Methodist Church. Rev. Wayne Cook, of Quanah, will officiate at the rites. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery, under direction of Kirk-Mason Funeral Home.

Surviving relatives include the husband; a daughter, Miss Clarice Holt, of Amarillo; three sons, Robert Holt, Wheeler, Clarence Holt, Borger, and Demaris Holt, Pampa; a brother, Robert Bowers, Van; a sister, Mrs. Maude Bowers Holt, Walsh, Colo.; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
