Funeral Services Are Held For George W. Mason
George W. Mason was born in Clay County, North Carolina, May 24, 1878 and passed away at his home East of Wheeler April 14, 1958 at 5:00 a.m. at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 20 days.
Mr. and Mrs. Mason were married Dec. 30, 1903 in Fannin County, Texas and have resided in Wheeler 40 years, coming here from Chillicothe, Texas. He was a deacon in the Wheeler Baptist Church and a member of the Baptist Church for 39 years. He was a retired farmer.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 15, at 3:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Wheeler, with the pastor, Rev. Frank Ross, assisted by Rev. LeRoy Harris, officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Mason of Wheeler; the children, Clifford Mason, Shamrock, Mrs. Jewel Lile, Shamrock; Mrs. Velma Johnson, Ulyssis [sic], Kansas; a brother, Merman Mason, Akron, Ohio; and a sister, Mrs. Isable Lawrence, Akron, Ohio; also nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceeded [sic] in death by one daughter, five brothers and two sisters.
Serving as Pall Bearers were: Leonard Rathjen, Johnnie Reed, Charles Davis, Weldon Weatherly, Burl Hill and Harold Hill. Honorary Bearers were J.F. Rathjen, Hub Cole, C.C. Jones, Jess Moore, T.J. Cole, Bob Ramsey, Claude Cox, Floyd Davidson, Lloyd Davidson, Clarence Killingsworth, Tom Bradstreet, Hiram Grimes, Olen Pendleton, and Murray Sanders.
Interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Kirk Funereal Home.

Mrs. Myrtle May Mason, age 87, passed away at the Parkview Hospital, Monday, October 19, 1970. The home address was of Wheeler.
Born April 9, 1883, Allenville, Ill. The father's name was Andrew Humphreys, and mother was Hannah Willis.
She was married to George W. Mason, Dec. 30, 1903 at Fairview, Texas. She had lived in Wheeler Co. since 1918. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1958.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Wheeler. She had 1 Son, Clifford, Shamrock, 2 Daughters, Mrs. Jewel Lile, Vernon, Texas, Mrs. Velma Johnson, Ulysses, Kansas, 3 Brothers, Era Humphreys [sic], Gilbert, Ariz., George Humphreys [sic], McLean, Texas, Loy Humphreys [sic], Florence, Arizona. 9 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren.
The funeral will be at the First Baptist Church, Wheeler, Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1970, at 3:00, with Rev. Keith McCormick officiating. Interment will be at the Wheeler cementery [sic].
Pall Bearers are: Harold Hill, Burl Hill, Floyd Davidson, Paul Shumate, Jess Moore, Leonard Rathjen.
