Funeral Services for Josie S. Garcia, 99, a longtime Hereford resident will be at 1 p.m. November 16, 2012, at the Genesis Church of Hereford with the Reverend Sam Rando
officiating. Burial will follow in West Park Cemetery under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. A prayer vigil will be held at Parkside Chapel Funeral Home on November 15, 2012, at 6:30 p.m.
Mrs. Garcia passed away November 9, 2012, in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Josie S. Garcia was born January 10, 1913, in Pandora, Tx., to Lazaro and Martha Abalandran Sanchez. She married Cruz Garcia August 25, 1941 in Raymondville, Texas. Josie worked at the Ore Ida Potato Plant for 12 years before retiring in 1970. Mrs. Garcia had been a resident of Hereford since 1990, moving here from Idaho.

Those left to mourn her passing are seven daughters, Martha Mendoza of Ferris, Tx., Aurora Garcia of Jerome, Idaho, Mary Rojas of Bakersfield, Calif., Janie Benitez of Filer, Idaho, Carmen Rojas of Gooding, Idaho, Esther Walker of Hereford, and Irma Hernandez of Lubbock, Tx.; four sons, Luz Mendoza of Hereford, Cruz Garcia of Phoenix, Ariz., Jessie Garcia of Oregon and Robert Mendoza of Marion, Indiana; and forty-six grandchildren.

Mrs. Garcia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2011, six brothers, three sisters, two granddaughters and two grandsons.
