BORGER - Floyd Harold Cox, 81, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Hutchison, pastor, officiating and the Rev. Darrell Burton, chaplain of Hospice Care of the Southwest, and Dickie Haney, nephew, assisting. Graveside services will be in Westlawn Memorial Cemetery with L.W. Henshaw, son-in-law, officiating. Arrangements are by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Mr. Cox was born March 29, 1927, in Holliday to Joseph B. and Alma Cox. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and married Mattie Trammel on Aug. 23, 1947, in Vernon. They moved from Sentinel, Okla., to Borger, where they made their home for the past 60 years.
Calvary Baptist Church was his church home. Floyd was an avid sports fan and a master woodworker. He loved fishing and listening to gospel music.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Glenn Cox, Jiggs Cox and J.B. Cox Jr.; and a granddaughter, Amanda Carder.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie; a daughter, LaDonna Henshaw and husband L.W. of Arlington; a sister, Dora Haney of Borger; a granddaughter, Cristin Carder of Amarillo; three stepgrandchildren, Sage Henshaw, Macy Henshaw and Levi Henshaw, all of Arlington; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who were very dear to him.
The family will be at 1105 Cooley Drive in Borger.
Casket bearers will be Matt Smith, Duane Hodge, Tim Sudbrink, Bill Todd, Joe Brawley and Paul Thomas.
