FRITCH - Funeral services for Roy Edward Manes, 63, of 104 Ari Kari, will be at 2 p .m. Thursday in the First Southern Baptist Church with the Rev. C.H. Vanlandingham of Raton, N.M., officiating and the Rev. Dave Adkins, pastor, assisting.

Interment will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Mortuary.

Manes, an area resident for the past 12 years, died at 8:30 a.m. today in North Plains Hospital.

He was born Sept. 12, 1912 in Falls County. He was a retired television technician.

He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, the Fritch Lions Club and was president of the Palo Duro Brotherhood Association.

Survivors include his wife, Syble of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Jimmie Lois Goodenough and Mrs. Noreta Livergood, both of Midland, Mrs. Marion Brown of Las Cruces, N.M.

His mother, Mrs. Minnie Fritch [sic] of Borger; a sister, Margie Manes of Vancouver, Wash.; four stepbrothers, Roy Frith of Borger, Woodrow Frith of Amarillo, Tommy and J.C. Frith of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four stepsisters, Mrs. Lena Kerr of Chillicothe, Mrs. Johnnie Boone of Amarillo, Mrs. Eunice Wright of Austin and Mrs. Jessie Wing of Borger; and four grandchildren.

FRITCH - Syble Manes Bennett, 86, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, in Borger Healthcare Center.

Services are pending with Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mrs. Bennett was born on Aug. 27, 1914. She was a native of Childress County and had been a Fritch resident for 26 years.

She was a housewife and a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch.

Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by one daughter, Noreta Livergood in 2001; her first husband, Roy E. Manes in 1975; her second husband, H.C. "Tex" Bennett in 2001; three brothers, R.T. Spinks in 1992, Aubrey Spinks in 1996 and Curtis Spinks in 1998 and one sister, Edna Spinks in 1966.

Survivors include two daughters, Jimmie Goodenough of Gainesville and Marion Brown of Las Cruces, N.M.; one brother, Weldon Spinks of Childress; one sister, Betty Black of Groom; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
