Howard Weldon Parker, Sr., 78, of 1409 Fox Avenue, Dumas, died Thursday in Olsen Manor Nursing Home in Amarillo.
Retired instrument man for Phillips Petroleum Company in 1974, he was a native of Greenville and a Borger resident from 1929 to 1977 but has lived the last ten years in Dumas.
He was a veteran of WWII in the U.S. Army and a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Dumas, life member of V.F.W. 1789, member of Local 351.
He married Dorothy Scott in Texas County, Okla. in December, 1941.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of the home; two daughters, Carolyn Gable of Amarillo, Linda Brandon of Lubbock; one son, Howard Parker, Jr. of Longview; two brothers, Buddy Parker of LaDonia, Ray Parker of Dallas; one sister, Lela Stafford of Palestine; a sister-in-law, Mrs. W.H. Parker of Greenville; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel in Dumas with Rev. Jerry Clark, pastor, Bible Baptist Church of Dumas, officiating.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Casketbearers will be Walt Meyer, O.E. Tinnin, Bill Lowe, Bill Wyatt, A.A. Reneau, Gordon Richardson.

DUMAS - Dorothy Nell Parker, 70, died Saturday, June 11, 1994 in Amarillo.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel in Dumas with the Rev. Jerry Clark, pastor Bible Baptist Church of Dumas, officiating.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Westlawn Memorial Park with local arrangements by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors.
A native of Martha, Oklahoma, she moved to Borger in 1941 and then to Dumas in 1977. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Dumas. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1972.
She married Howard Parker, Sr. December, 1941 in Guymon, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 1987.
Survivors include her son, Howard Parker, Jr. of Longview; two daughters, Carolyn Gable and Linda Eads of Amarillo; two sisters, Jane Hurst of Amarillo, and Joy Gable of Roseburg, Oregon; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
