Funeral services for Gerhard Knelsen, age 64 of Seminole, Texas will be held Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Old Colony Mennonite Church with Bishop Cornelius Fehr officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.

Mr. Knelsen was born in Mexico September 25, 1957 to Eva (Penner) and Joseph Knelsen. He married Katharina Knelsen in Mexico July 16, 1978. He was a member of Old Colony Mennonite Church and worked as a farmer. Gerhard enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb; he was also known as a great handyman. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren deeply and enjoyed helping anyone he could. Mr. Knelsen endured a long battle with cancer and still remained very strong. His family now imagines him walking in the garden of heaven.

Gerhard Knelsen went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 20, 2022. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, two sisters, and three grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Katharina Knelsen of Seminole; two sons, Henry Knelsen and wife Loretta of Seminole, and George Knelsen and wife Lisa of Denver City; six daughters, Tina Dyck and husband Abe, and Anna Froese and husband Abe, both of Seminole, Lena Wieler and husband Jake of Paris, Texas, Eva Neudorf and husband Henry of Graham, Texas, Nancy Thiessen and husband Pete of Cape Coral, Florida, and Susana Penner and husband Ertman of Santa Cruz, Bolivia; four brothers, Joseph Knelsen and wife Maria of Seminole, Abraham Knelsen and wife Maria of Mexico, David Knelsen and wife Helena of Bolivia, and Henry Knelsen and wife Margaret of Canada; four sisters, Anna Enns and husband Isaac of Seminole, Eva Knelsen and husband Abraham, Katharina Krahn and husband John, and Maria Hamm, all of Bolivia; and 26 grandchildren.
