DALLAS - Agnes Hicks, 86, formerly of Hereford, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2010.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ken Varner officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford.

Agnes was born March 30, 1924, in Gretna, Va., to Claude David Hunt Sr. and Grace Virginia Amick Hunt. She graduated from Gretna High School in 1942, graduated from the University of Virginia School of Nursing in 1945, Cornell University, N.Y. Hospital School of Anesthesia, and Medical College of Virginia.

She was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Nurse Corps.

She married Clarence "Chicks" Hicks on June 16, 1951, in Gretna. He passed away in 1976. They moved to Hereford in 1958 from Middlesboro, Ky. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; a brother; and a granddaughter, Cassidy Hicks Meyer on Oct. 9, 2010.

Survivors include three sons, Dennis Hicks and wife Cindie of Hereford, David Hicks and wife Jan of Allen, and Gary Hicks and wife Mary Anne of Dallas; a brother, Jimmy Hunt Sr. of Gretna; two sisters, Grace Catherina Hunt Chase of Hopewell, Va,, and Virginia Hunt Pleasant of Seattle; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchidlren.

The family suggests memorials be to Evan and Grace Meyer Education Fund, P.O. Box 2007, Hereford, TX 79045.

The family will receive guests at 105 N. Douglas St. in Hereford.
