Penny Smith, 40, of Big Spring, Texas, died on Tuesday, March 16, 2004, in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, March 19, 2004 at the Sand Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Winn, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery, Coahoma.

She was born on October 31, 1963, in Garland, Texas and moved to Big Spring in 1967. Penny loved writing and animals, especially "Tina", her dog . She was a member of Sand Springs Baptist Church and a graduate of Sul Ross University.

Survivors include her parents, Bill and Charlsye Smith of Big Spring; her brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Dena Smith of Big Spring; her nephews, Jake and Jerrod Smith both of Big Spring; her niece, Brandi Smith of Big Spring; her aunts, Evelyn Brock and Peggy Steadman both of Garland; her uncle, Leonard Smith of Abilene; numerous cousins and her special friend, Snuffy Simmons of Coahoma.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Milo Smith.

The family suggests memorials to the Sand Springs Baptist Church, 8517 N. Service Road, Big Spring, Texas 79720 or MHMR, 319 Runnels, Big Spring, Texas 79720.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
