*Obituary Douglas D. Smith
Douglas D. Smith, 88, of Big Spring died Tuesday, October 17, 2023.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM Monday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with Brother Eddie Pitchford and Kenny Stewart officiating.

Douglas was born November 29, 1934 in Chalk, Texas to the late Lee Estes Smith and Lelah Williams Smith.

He married Sue Nell Lawdermilk on February 15, 1954 in Lamesa.

Douglas and Sue lived in Garden City for 52 years and then moved to Big Spring.

He was a member of Primitive Baptist Church.

Douglas worked in the oilfield for 50 plus years.

He also owned and operated Smith Roustabout, his construction company.

He had a love of horses, enjoyed watching westerns, and especially loved to talk and tell stories. A saying he would always tell people was "Everything is gonna be alright."

He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team and the Texas Rangers baseball franchise.

Douglas also loved sweets, especially egg custard pie.

In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by his wife, Sue on October 25, 2018; three sisters, Clara Smith, Elizabeth Smith, and Joyce Pollock; and a brother, Bill Smith.

He is survived by his children; David and Lynn Smith of Big Spring, Steve and Brenda Smith of Water Valley, Sharon and Clint Harmon of Midland, and Scott and Shell Smith of Mertzon. His grandchildren; Jeremy Smith, Blaine Smith, Brittany Walker, Shiloh Smith, Sheyenne Smith, Kelcie Harmon, Shayla Harmon, and Jake Cooley; 13 great-grandchildren; his companion Leona, and bonus kids, Dianna, Kenny, and Peggy.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Smith, Blaine Smith, Shiloh Smith, Sheyenne Smith, Kenny Duffer, & Billy Osburn.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org or to the Alzheimer's Foundation, www.alzfdn.org.

Sue Nell Smith, 83, of Big Spring died Thursday, October 25, 2018.

Graveside service will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with Skip Hedgepeth, Chaplain of Home Hospice.

Sue was born August 14, 1935, in Big Spring to Hattie Rice Lawdermilk and Chandos Lawdermilk.

She married Douglas D. Smith on February 15, 1954, in Lamesa. They lived in Garden City for 52 years and then moved to Big Spring.

She was a member of Primitive Baptist Church.

She loved being with family, reading, cooking, and she also loved rose bushes, and hanging plants, and Hibiscus flowers.

Sue is survived by her children: David and Lynn Smith of Merkel, Steve and Brenda Smith of Water Valley, Sharon and Clint Harmon of Midland, and Scott and Shell Smith of Sterling City; grandchildren: Jeremy, Blaine, Brittany, Shiloh, Sheyenne, Kelcie, Shayla, and Jake; 11 great grandchildren; and sister: Betty Lepard of Colleyville.

In addition of her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Pallbearers will be Guy Newell, Kenny Stewart, Jeremy Smith, Blaine Smith, Shiloh Smith, and Sheyenne Smith.
