Curtis Smith, 79, of Coahoma, died Saturday, January 24, 2015, in Amarillo.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Doug Shelley, pastor of East Side Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park.

He was born October 3, 1935, at Center, TX to Margie and Truitt Smith.

He married Verna Medlin on June 2, 1957, in Lubbock.

He owned Curtis Implement Company for a number of years. He later worked at Sears and sold other farm products for Primrose Oil Company. He managed KBYG and worked for Texas Agricultural Commission. He served on the City Council at Coahoma.

He has lived in Coahoma since 1985 and was a member of Grace Fellowship Church of God.

He is survived by his wife: Verna of Coahoma; one son: David Smith of Odessa; three daughters: Vanita Woolsey and her husband Larry of Amarillo, Annette Henry and her husband Jackie and Angela Smith, all of Coahoma; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: David Smith.

*Obituary Verna Medlin Smith
Verna Medlin Smith, 84, died Saturday, October 7, 2023.

Visitation will be 5 PM until 7 PM Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 PM Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel with burial at Trinity Memorial.

Verna was born on May 31, 1939 in Tatum, N.M. to Lela Mae Rains Medlin & Buford A. Medlin.

She married Charles Curtis Smith on June 2, 1957. He preceded her death on January 24, 2015.

She came to Coahoma in 1969 from Pecos and spent the last few years in Amarillo.

Verna owned Lil Raschal's Day Care for many years in Coahoma.

She enjoyed sewing & reading, especially the Bible.

She loved singing, especially specials in church. She directed sweet spirits (a youth choir) at Sands Springs Baptist Church.

Verna is survived by 2 daughters: Vanita Woolsey (Larry) of Amarillo & Annette Henry (Jackie) of Coahoma; 1 son: David Smith of Odessa; 1 brother: W.G. Medlin (Bobbie) of North Carolina; 1 sister: Roberta Brown of Round Rock; 6 grandchildren: Jason Henry (Brashara) of Forsan, Desirae DeYoung (Jeremy) of Point, Eric Henry (Erin) of Watertown, WI, Chris Henry (Meranda) of Big Spring, Kim Saucedo (Brett) of Big Spring & Cheyanne Smith of Amarillo; 15 great grandchildren: Alexis Henry, Jason Henry, Austin Henry, Jayden Henry, Kase Henry, Josh DeYoung, Alex DeYoung, Brody Henry, Clay Henry, Lylah Henry, Alice Henry, Lilly Henry, Julia Henry, Kolter Saucedo, & Brycson Saucedo; 2 great great grandchildren: Peyton Henry & Kenzlee Henry.

In addition to her parents and husband, Verna was preceded in death by 1 daughter: Angela Smith; 2 brothers: Dean Medlin & Kenneth Medlin; and 1 sister: Rosa Lee Dempsey.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
