David “Leon” Smith, 72, of Coahoma, died Friday, June 19, 2015 at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Coahoma Church of Christ, with Eddy Pitchford officiating. Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery.

Leon was born August 22, 1942 in Jones County, Texas to Frank Lee and Annie Jane (Polk) Smith, and married Clara Smith January 9, 1972. She preceded him in death June 2, 2003.

He then married Charlotte Liles May 11, 2006.

Leon worked his whole life in the oilfield and became a Site Manager.

He also loved to farm and travel.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Liles (Smith) of Coahoma; one daughter, Patricia Smith of Abilene; two sons, Michael Terry and wife, Charlotte of Seminole, and James Terry and wife, Janice of Hobbs, New Mexico; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, John Smith and wife, Francis of Rotan, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his first wife, Leon was preceded in death by one son, Charles “Bo” Terry; his parents; five brothers; and one sister.

Clara Smith, 60, of Coahoma, died on Monday, June 2, 2003, in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2003, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Dan Dale, pastor of South Seminole Baptist Church, Seminole, officiating. Interment will follow in Coahoma Cemetery.

She was born on September 26, 1942, in Pinon, New Mexico and married Leon Smith on January 10, 1973, in Lovington, New Mexico. Mrs. Smith was the office manager for M&M General Contractors.

Survivors include her husband, Leon Smith of Coahoma; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Charlotte Terry of Seminole and James and Tammy Terry of Hobbs, New Mexico; three sisters, Betty Estey of Pecos, Glenda Franke of Klamouth Falls, Oregon and Charlotte Liles of Snyder; one brother, R. H. Smith of Tyler and five grandchildren, Chad, D.J. and Kendra Terry of Seminole, Terry Sowell of Hobbs, New Mexico and William "JoJo" Mixon of Artesia, New Mexico.

She was preceded in death by one son, Charles "Bo" Terry; her father, Raymond W. Smith; her mother, Katherine Smith on May 30, 2003, and one sister, Bonnie Sue Smith.

The family suggests memorials to West Kentucky Baptist Church, 1507 W. Kentucky Ave., Midland, TX 79701 or to Allison Cancer Center, 301 North N Street, Midland, Texas 79701.
