Lynn Davis passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Hansford Manor.

Lynn was born May 7, 1935 in Borger to Henry and Bernice (Searcy) Davis.

Lynn graduated from Morse High School and married the love of his life Martha Blankenship on August 2, 1957 in Morse. They were married 44 years until she preceded him in death in 2001.

Lynn was drafted and served in the United States Army as an MP during the Korean Conflict. After his service in the Army, he and Martha made their home in Morse where Lynn farmed, raising alfalfa hay until his death. Lynn loved his community and never knew a stranger. Generations around Morse learned about “garments on their backs” and “their epidermis showing” thanks to Lynn.

Lynn was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Stinnett. He served on the board of directors of the High Plains Federal Land Bank, Hansford County Hospital District Board, Morse ISD School Board and was a member and past president of the Morse Lions Club.

Lynn was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two grandchildren, Chelsie Ann Davis and Chad McFerrin Davis; and a sister, Shirley Nechero.

He is survived by a daughter, Susan Davis of Lubbock; a son, Scott Davis and wife Debbie of Morse; a brother Bob E. Davis and wife Marilyn of Waco; a sister, Hazel Gallavan and husband Richard of Cortez, Colorado; one grandson, Donnie Davis and wife Kasandra, and his pride and joy a great granddaughter, Kaylee Lynn all of Borger.

Services will be held Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Stinnett. Burial will follow at Lieb Cemetery.

Mr. Davis will lie in state at Brown’s Chapel in Stinnett on Tuesday, October 7 and Wednesday, October 8 from 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made in honor of Lynn Davis to the Morse Community Building, PO Box 114, Morse Texas 79062.
