James R. and Allie [sic] Mitchell come to Borger in 1931. They had one daughter, Frances Mitchell. They came from Perryton where they had resided for a time.

Jimmy had come originally from Middletown, Kentucky. He had worked with his father with machinery of all types, which in those days was steam driven.

He advanced along with the advancement of machinery, mostly in the automobile industry. But steam motivated machinery fascinated him.

He first worked at what is now the Finger Motor company in Borger. Then he, with Jeff Wilson established a garage on Main Street. Later, Jeff Wilson moved north of Weatherly Street and Jimmy moved to the 400 block on Weatherly Street. Here he operated a repair shop until 1967.

He was also a partner with Bill McMurray in the M&M auto supply, also on Weatherly. Ollie and Jimmy were active in the First Christian Church which was located on Main Street. The church eventually moved to Bryan Street. They were active in their church and in the civic and social affairs of the town. He was a charter memeber [sic] of and president of "Independent garage men Association."

Ollie was known for her culinary talent and many people of those rough but exciting days, enjoyed a social and closeness at the homes of their friends. Those were very busy and interesting times. Ollie died in 1964 and rests in Highland Park Cemetery.

Frances, or Fran, as she was called graduated from Borger High School in 1944 and attended Texas Christian University. While there she married John "Jake" Calder from Phillips. They moved to Houston so that John could go to dental school. John and Fran had four children, Carlye Arnold, Kent, Danny and Jayme. They now have three grandchildren, Joshua, Robert Calder and Dale Arnold.

John has had a dental office in Richland Hills of Fort Worth for several years. Fran works in a jewelry business. They live in Richland Hills with their children nearby.

In 1965, Jimmy married Mabel Davidson and lives at 401 West Adams. He works at Merle's Auto Supply.
