Services for Dewey August Smith, 79, of 1512 S. Wilhelm in Stinnett are pending with Minton Mortuary.
Mr. Smith died Thursday at 8:19 p.m. He was a retired farmer-stockman.
Mr. Smith had come to Texas in 1928 and worked in the oilfields. He was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co. for 16 years. He was a masonry worker in Stinnett, where he lived for 20 years.
He was born Aug. 5, 1898, in Red Cloud, Neb.
Survivors include his wife, Cora; four daughters, Mrs. Delores Autry of Stinnett, Mrs. Bonnie Swink of Fritch, Mrs. Erma Vancil of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Helen Curtis of Salt Lake City, Utah; two sons, Leon of Belton and Charles of Perryton; a brother, Ernest of Houston; four sisters, Mrs. Dora Strain of Enid, Okla., Mrs. Lenore Lang of Truth or Consequences, N.M., Lola Spray of Woodward, Okla., and Mrs. Nina Gilbert of Delta, Colo.; 24 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
