BORGER - M.W. "Catfish" Smith, 88, died Monday, May 1, 2000.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Church of God with the Rev. Jonathan Back, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors.
Mr. Smith was born in Snowball, Ark., and lived in Borger 50 years. He was a retired operator for Phillips Petroleum Co. and a member of the Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Maybelle Smith, in April, and a son, Orlando Wilson Smith, in 1943.
Survivors include six sons, Johnny Smith, Jerry Smith, Carl Smith and Don Smith, all of Borger, Luther Smith of Bowie and Bobby Smith of Guymon, Okla.; four daughters, Etta Mae West and Pauline Farmer, both of Borger, Edith Barker of Tunnel Hill, Ga., and Helen Wiggin of Guymon, Okla.; a brother, John Milam of Hobbs; 36 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and one greatgreat-grandchild.

Mrs. Smith was born in Marble City, Okla., and had lived in Borger 50 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God.
She married Maniard Wilson Smith in 1932 at Stillwell, Okla. She was preceded in death by a son, Woodrow Wilson Smith, in 1943.
