Final rites for Cecil L. Smith, 61, of Houston, former resident of Borger, are pending with Minton Mortuary.
Smith died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday in Houston where he moved in 1962. He was employed by United Carbon Co., transferring to Houston from Borger. He came to Pampa in 1926 and to Borger in 1935. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Isom Masonic Lodge, Borger Evening Lions Club, and Sanford Kiwanis Club.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia, 10327 Brinwood Drive, Houston; two sons, James C. of Houston, Donald J. of Lincoln, Neb.; daughter, Mrs. J.W. Snider, of Borger; sister, Mrs. W.A. Murry, Bastrop, La; brother, Bill of Pampa; and eight grandchildren.

Virginia Smith, 87, of Amarillo, died Monday, June 22, 1998.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Garden of Good Shepherd of Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Gregg Simmons, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Mrs. Smith was born in Weston, W.Va. She had been an employee of Dean's and Hub Clothiers in Borger. She moved to Houston in 1962 from Borger and then moved to Amarillo in 1992. She was a member of Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, in 1968.
Survivors include two sons, Don Smith of Lincoln, Neb., and James Smith of Alice; eight grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family requests memorials be to the Harrington Cancer Center in memory of Cecil and Virginia Smith.
