FRITCH - Albert Greer Smith, 87, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, in Amarillo.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Brasher, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors.

Mr. Smith was born in Newport. He was a retired operator for Phillips Petroleum Co. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Adobe Walls and the First United Methodist Church.

He married Annelle "Nell" Shipp in 1940 at Newport. He was preceded in death by a son, Jack Greer Smith, in 1974.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter-in-law, Jane Viglini of Texas City; a sister, Ellie Zuber of Jacksboro; one grandson; and two step-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 638, Fritch, TX 79036; or BSA Hospice Life Enrichment Program, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176-0001; or a favorite charity.

Fritch — Annelle Shipp Smith, 98, of Texas City, formerly of Fritch, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011.

Celebration of life services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Fritch First United Methodist Church.

Mrs Smith was born July 20, 1913, in Newport to Lula and O.M. Shipp. After graduating from North Texas State Teacher’s College, Mrs. Smith taught school for one year in Newport, four years in Post Oaks, three years in Electra and 26 years in Phillips. She loved teaching and her students, many of whom have stayed in touch through the years.

Those who knew her will miss her great sense of humor and all her stories. Nell loved her Lord, her family and her friends and was faithful to them to the very end of her life. Above all else, she wanted this time to be a great celebration of life. She was also a lifelong member of the PTA, Retired Teacher’s Association, United Methodist Women and Twentieth Century.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Greer Smith; a son, Jack Smith; and a brother, John Shipp.

Survivors include two grandsons, Russell Smith and David Smith and wife Barbara; a granddaughter, Dana Mayor and husband Doug; three great-grandchildren, Matt and Jordan Monford and Jenna Mayor; a daughter-in-law, Jan Viglini and husband Bob; three nieces, Jane Morris and husband Lance, Barbara Ahlquist and husband John and Jeannie Ford and husband Pat; and a nephew, Rex Shipp.
