Oren Dee "Smitty" Smith, 61, 111 Turner, Borger, died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Veteran's Administration Hospital in Amarillo.
A retired pipefitter and former police officer on the Anadarko, Okla. police department, he was a native of Atoka, Oklahoma, and a Borger resident for 26 years.
He was a veteran of WWII and Korean conflict in Navy and a member of VFW1789 as a lifetime member.
He is survived by his wife, Lottie Smith of the home; two sons, Lt. Commander Michael O. Smith of Jacksonville, N.C., and Carl D. Smith of Whitehall, Montana; a daughter, Sharon A. Smith of Denver, Colo.; three brothers, Virgil Smith and Oscar Smith, both of Anadarko, Okla., and George Smith of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren.
Services are pending with Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors.
